Readers, Jennifer Slegg has a great post on anchor text strategy that you should check out. From Jennifer’s post:
So definitely ensure you have variety in your anchor text, even going
so far as having some links linked with âclick hereâ, your
company/website name or simply your URL. Then make a list of all the
possible anchor text combinations and when you get a new link, choose a
different keyword combo off the list. Then once you get more than a
handful, you can go back and get additional links for your most
important phrases, but again being careful to unevenly distribute the
anchor text of those links. Yes, you can definitely give more links to
your most important keyword phrases, just resist the temptatation to do
them all on your top phrase.

I can not agree more that link building is the most powerful tool for seo’rs and those making a living online.
I checked out Jennifer Sleggs blog and I can’t help wondering ” What happened to the Yahoo ads!”

This is one of those examples of people “trying” to look natural because they’ve forgotten how to “be” natural.
If you want to have a natural backlink profile, ask the people to link back to your site with whatever anchor text they think is appropriate for their users. Asking an arbitrary percentage of people to use “click here’ for anchor text with a goal of varying your anchor text is patently unnatural by virtue of your goal.
I agree with you Randy. If you want to make a link back to your site, you ‘d better ask him to set the anchor text with his own idea.
It is also userful for your users as People often says that user often know what they wanted.
This reminds me of John Chow. He’s at the top on Google for ‘make money online’ since he asked people to point to his blog with this anchor text.

All I know, link is good to get high PageRank. No matter it is use anchor text or not.

Very good tip for link building. I’ve done the same strategy on some quality Multiple Link Directories as well. Have you posted about how google will be/are looking closely at text ads and possibly forcing a paid ad indication where paid ads exists thus decreasing the quality/value of the link back?
