Readers, this is a feedback post.  Curious to hear what you want to see in terms of features, concepts, tools, etc from Text Link Ads.  We have been working hard to create the best marketplace for both buyers and publishers and we are constantly improving the system.

From a buyers standpoint our main focus is to build a large marketplace that caters to every niche imaginable.  By continuing to expand our list of independent publishers we have a better chance of you finding relevant sites to purchase ads that will send targeted traffic while improving relevant link popularity.

For publishers we added the option for full editorial review on all links sold before they are published to your website.  We continue to add instructions so that every programming language possible is covered by our automated service.

Please let me know where we can improve and what you would like to see from Text Link Ads.  Thanks again!

Hi Patrick,

This is Amit from Digital Inspiration.

I’ve read so many good reviews of TLA but never got a chance to implement them on my site for a simple reason – I am not lazy to convert raw XML code into HTML for my blog.

Can you please provide a plugin for Blogger like you do for Wordpress.

Or if not a plugin – can someone in your team write a quick tutorial on how to integrate TLA ads in blogspot sites.

Thanks.

If it isn’t already available, as a publisher I’d like the ability to easily get a site re-reviewed (maybe a once a month limit) instead of having to delete it and then resubmit it.

One of my sites was submitted when it was main PR5 and sub PR4. Now it is main PR6 some sub PR6, some sub PR5 and some sub PR4 and it has acquired over 10,000 links without any link building at all. Not to mention that I think the site clearly deserves a reconsideration for the “premium” category since it has over 19 unsolicited links from EDU domains.

I assume that this all makes a difference, but the site is still priced at $25/month.

I agree with JPrato above … it would be nice if TLA’s engine reevaluated the PR of our sites. You might also want to add a comments section under each site, where advertisers can post and rate their experience buying a link on a site.

Also, one more thing, and I consider this VERY important, and to be implemented immediately. Please stop publishing plain text passwords in your emails. I like getting the email updates, but every single one has my password sitting in plain text. This is completely unnecessary, and a blatant security hole.

Other than that, so far I am very happy.

I agree on the re-reviewing of sites, definitley.

I also notice that when I find my sites listed for where people can buy links on them, they say that their ads will apear on 1 page, which for at least two of my sites, that is false. I suspect this is a bug, it should be addressed fixed.

I love to see “check payment for publishers”. Also, buy TLA from publisher’s website.

I would like to see a picture of the super cool TLA Softball Team ;-)

I believe I suggested this via e-mail and was told that you were working on it, but just incase, I really would like to be able to change (on the fly) the max number of links sold on any site to any number 1-whatever your max might be.

You see, I only sell text link advertising to a total of 6 different domains on each of my site’s. This includes my own sales and sales generated through TLA. So, for example, if I have 3/4 sold on TLA and I have sold 2 advertisements on my own, that’s 5. So, if I sell one more, I’d like to go in right away and change the TLA inventory to a max out of 3, instead of a max of 4. And then in some cases, I’d like to turn it up to 6. Basically, I want to be able to give TLA the opportunity to fill all of my inventory, but I also want to be able to sell my own ads, if there are slots open and then tell TLA not to sell that many ads. If they have already sold them, then I will most likely not want to mess with that.

I assume that I could e-mail every time, but it’d just be easier if I could do it myself. :)

Thanks.

Thanks for this feedback. I will try to attack this one point at a time and just let me know what you think:

Amit – unfortunately our script will not work with Blogger or Typepad. The reason is because our script requires the blog software to support server side technologies and unfortunately those two do not.

Jprato – the best way to get your price reconsidered at this time is to email us and make a request. This can be done by sending an email to: techsupport (at) text-link-ads.com

Valerie – yes the “site wide” versus “single page” but is being worked out. If your site is listed in correctly please drop us a line at the email above.

LcF – can you clarify what your request is, I am just not quite getting it.

Brian – another big game tonight, post and pic on it’s way.

Patrick – we can add this functionality in, no problem.

thanks everyone and keep the feedback coming!

I have a relatively popular site but only one TLA has ever been sold on it. And that one link is totally off-topic. I imagine it’s because of the unusual niche of my site. However my readers are very tech-savvy, so it shouldn’t be hard to offer appropriate links.

It would be very helpful if TLA could provide some sort of feedback to me as a publisher. TLA can probably tell me why my site’s not selling link space well due to their knowledge of buyers. Maybe my site’s description isn’t good enough? It’s in both our interests to see publishers do well, so any sort of feedback to the publisher would be helpful, even if it’s only from link buyers who post comments on why they didn’t buy a link.

Thanks for requesting feedback!

The ability to track OUTCLICKs

you can track outclicks or external links-Clicks with just piece of JavaScript code

it could be hosted by TLA or just partner with a stat firm that uses the technology for a discount to users

I like your advertising model but I am not seeing the regular churning or addition of advertisers on my blog (desipundit.com) in spite of being a highly visited site at least in the Indian blogosphere.

How are you reaching out to the advertisers?

1) I already sent a post about this, but let’s put it here anyway: my gameproducer.net description says: “# of Pages Your Ad Will Appear On: 1″. I have put “sitewide” (meaning the link will appear on ALL pages), but for some reason it still says 1 page.

2) I’d like to show promo ad ( http://www.text-link-ads.com/images/100_free_ad.gif ) and tell people to purchase links from you – but my only way to link to you is by using the referral link. It would be nice to automatically show “promo ads” (read from your database) if they were available. I bet that would be good incentive for people to buy links from you.

I think the TLA teams and users could save themselves a lot of time and frustration if 25 to 50 keywords were asked of each publisher in regard to his or her site.

I’ve only received one sold link through TLA, and it was relavent. However, I can see how this site could become a norm for my site, which is sort of wrong. My site caters to much more than art and poetry, even though it may not look as such at brief glance. Now, I could approve the links on my site, yes, but that’s not the problem. The problem is marketing to the right people in the right sections. I know I’m placed in the artsy/creative sections, but I also feature music and humor and even discuss large moral matters on my website. With the current setup, I’m not able to market to any of that, and I’d like to see that change. :)

I want to have a URL I can send to potential advertisers (or place on my site) that will allow them to go directy to the TLA site and purchase an ad on my site (and get affiliate credit!) I want TLA to handle it all.

I’d also like to see the ad code be valid XHTML code so I don’t have to make any changes to it to keep my site valid.

I would like to see more business related website to purchase links from. More specifically would be transportation related sites if possible.

I’d like to see a site resubmission where, if the site was first rejected and subsequently builds traffic and linkage, that it could get re-reviewed.

A really good feature would be the ability to request an advertiser to add you.

Advertisers could provide a list of requirements and if your site fulfils it you can submit for review to the advertiser.

Also, the ability to delete advertisers if needed.
