I don’t often like to make "me too" blog posts, but in case you missed it on all the other SEO blogs, make sure to check out Jim Westergreen’s guide to building links. It’s a very good introduction to what everyone’s actually doing in the trenches (sometimes different than what you read on ClickZ), and I think there’s some nuggets in there whether you’re a seasoned link hound or a n00b.

Thanks, Andy. I’m off to check this link out!
That’s great, thanks for that Andy. Keep up the great blog (and service!).
I highly Recommend Jim’s Link Building Guide and SEO Articles
They have a list of over 500 free SEO friendly Directories. I been using there list an have got my site 249 backlinks so far. I have about 150 more to submit to. I receive emails every day saying my link is now listed in each directory. I’ve only been rejected 5 times out of several hundred I have manually submmited to, it’s time consuming but well worth it. Best thing is it’s free and you don’t have to link back to them unless you want to.
Also the wealth of knowledge Jim Westergren has on SEO will really help any website succeed in getting a Good/better PR level, Perhaps top in the search engines.
